Acupuncture is a type of treatment originated and practiced in China, which has now acceptance in the west.

It is a technique of freeing Chi (also qui) energy by inserting needles at particular points of the body. according to the theories, this balances yin and yang or the opposing forces.

Chi (qui) is the energy that permeates everywhere. When yin and yang are in balanced state, chi flows freely. The free flow of chi marks the healthy state of a person.

There are about 500 acupuncture points on the body. Each point produces specific effects when needle is inserted.

Acupuncture is indicated for conditions like chronic pain, muscle spasms, anxiety, substance addiction, anorexia, etc.

Acupuncture practice is there in India too, but is not very much popular among the people of India.
