The nurses and their daughters, who are aware of the secrets of the harem women, induce a man to come to the palace and tell him ways of safely entering and leaving the palace. The favorable factors for such men are the large size of the palace and the carelessness of the guards. But the man shall not be induced by telling false stories, as it can lead to his capture and his life will not be safe. The women who get these men into the palace get wonderful gifts from the wives of the kings and lords.

For his own safety, the man shall not enter the royal harem. He should ascertain the doors, hiding places and should get a clear idea about the careless behavior of the sentinels. He should also know when the king visits other countries or about the times the king will not be at the palace.

About Keeping One’s Wife Protected from Other Men

As the custom of meeting wives of other men is common, it is essential to guard one’s wife/wives. The man should get good sentinels, who are not interested in kama and artha (Lust and Wealth). While Babhraveeya directs men to test their women, Vatsyayana is of the opinion that one should never test his wife.

Don’t allow the women to engage freely in the society, don’t let them engage with female beggars and don’t let them engage freely with other men. The man shall also provide everything for the safety and happiness of the women. He shall also not leave the women alone at home for long days. Observing these things can protect the wife from the design of other men.

The women get kama (satisfaction of lust) and artha (wealth) and the men get kama and loses artha. The woman shall get assistants who don’t create resentment in other men. Barbers, flower merchants, astrologers and washer men make perfect assistants.

The woman who looks for both kama and artha must carefully choose the men they court. The qualities to look for include

Men born in good family
Men with good income
Men who have secured their livelihood
Young men
Master of different arts and skills
Independent men
Strong man
Handsome men
Men who always praise themselves
A eunuch, but who wants to be considered a man
Liberal man
One who has authority
One who is close to the king
One who is proud of his wealth

Previously acquainted man

If the woman looks to be associated with men of high qualities, for the sake of love and fame should choose men who are

Men of good family
Skilled in different arts
An eloquent, poetic skilled person
An energetic man
Men of appropriate behavior
Men of perseverance
One who is liberal and independent
Possessed of good body
Strong at sex
Free from envy and suspicion

The woman also must posses certain qualities to attract men

She should be beautiful
Should have good omen body marks
Should be able to satisfy a man with sex
Should express love without giving the impression of addicted to love
Should be able to effectively conceal her desire for wealth
Should smell good

The man who is deprived of wealth should be avoided by means of diplomacy. She should also be able to seduce the man and be able to keep him to herself, with being addicted to any one man.

There are three types of prostitutes

Ekaparigraha – this woman gives sexual pleasure to only one man
Anekaparigraha – this woman pleasures many men
Aparigraha – this woman doesn’t like consistently pleasuring a man

Ekaparigraha is like a keep to the man. She has love to her man and receives monitory rewards from her man.

Anekaparigraha looks for wealth only and accepts men who shower her with wealth.

Aparigraha has single point goal of accumulating wealth. She should make it clear she accepts men only for specific amount of money for a night.

A courtesan shall never sacrifice money for the sake of love. Money is the important thing for a courtesan. She should not consent to receive a man immediately after the proposal. Men scorn upon what they can win over quite easily.

Don’t receive a man who is sickly, has bad breath, speaks harsh words, suspicious, thief, sorcerer, and one who is extremely bashful.

Ekaparigraha (the courtesan who accepts only one man) too has flickering mind. If the man has lost all his wealth, he shall be avoided diplomatically. She shall take the man back when he has regained his wealth. But he should be left alone if he is with another woman.

A woman can accept the men who have been with other women. Such men are classified into six.

1. A man who has been with a woman; leaves her because of his lust to another woman and returns to the first woman shall not be accepted. His mind is so fickle and he is not capable of understanding the virtues of woman heart. He will not stay and will not bring any financial benefits.

2. One who has been expelled by two women has been expelled because of his incompetence.

3. One who has left from a place and expelled from the next place. The woman shall accept such a man only after receiving money from him.

4. One who has left a woman and is dwelling with another.

5. One who has been expelled by a woman because of her dislike and has left another woman.

6. One has been expelled by a woman and is dwelling with another woman.

The man who has been expelled from two places are not fit. A man who has been expelled because of lack of wealth or because of his unwillingness to provide the woman with money shall not be accepted.

If a man has left from another woman and wants to unite with the first woman, she should secretly enquire about the desires of the man.

A woman shall not accept a boy who is just budding into a youth.

They are

1. Padmini (lotus woman)
2. Chitrini (art woman)
3. Shankini (conch woman) and
4. Hastini (elephant woman)

Padmini or Lotus woman has face like full moon. She dresses well and flesh is soft and skin is tender and as beautiful as yellow lotus. She is not dark colored. Her youthfulness is about to burst. Her eyes are bright and beautiful like the big eyes of a fawn. Her breasts are hard and straight. Her neck is delicate. Neck is straight and lovely. Wrinkles at the middle of her belly are horizontal and appears as three folds of fine skin. Her yoni resembles a lotus half opened and smells like newly opened water lily. Her gait like swan and voice like cuckoo, she delights in decorative clothing and fine jewels. She is religious, intelligent, courteous, and enjoy conversations with learned people. Thus is the description of a lotus woman.

Chitrini or Art Woman is of medium size – neither tall nor short. Thick, black hair; thin, well rounded and shell like neck, tender body, sculptured waist; hard, full breasts; good-shaped thighs and wide hips are peculiarities of art women. Her yoni area is soft, raised and rounded and covered with thin hair. Smells like honey. She gaits like an elephant. Sound like that of a peacock. She likes variety. She is good at singing and excels at all art forms.

Shankhini or conch woman is tall, large and with dark yellow-brown skin. Her breasts are small, limbs are long and thin. She looks out of the corners of her eyes. Her yoni is ever moist, covered with thick hair and tastes salty. Harsh voice and gait decisive. She eats in moderation and is fond of new clothes, flowers and ornaments. She is great lover and engages too much in love. She is hard hearted, insolent and good at finding faults of others.

Hastini or elephant woman is stout with coarse body. Lips are large, voice is harsh and neck is bent. Gait is slow and walk is slouching. She is never easily satisfied in sex and she prefers prolonged sex. She is gluttonous and shameless. She enjoys sex during all seasons and during all hours of the night and during all seasons of the year.

Men employed as king’s officers, village headman, the supervisor of granaries, etc can get village woman by asking this. Physical union is possible in the seasons of procurement of cotton, wool, thread, hemp and thread. The superior men at cow pen, the superiors of markets, business persons, etc can pursue village woman while delivering their service.

Kings can gain over women by asking palace woman or queen to invite the palace during a festival season. The palace maid should tell the woman of king’s desire about the wonderful things at palace and promise to show them to her. After seeing the walls, secret passages, entertainment options, pictures, sculptures, etc, she shall tell the woman about the love the king has towards her. If the woman becomes angry, she should be appeased with presents befitting the king.

These methods of winning over wives of others are used by kings. A king shall never enter the adobe of another person.

Some countries like ANDHARAS also have customs where newly married women enter the harem with some presents for the king. The king can enjoy them and dismiss them. In the country of Vasagulmas, the wives of the ministers of the king meet the king at night to serve him. In the country of Vaidarbhas, the beautiful wives of other men in the palace live in the king’s harem for a month. In the country called Aparatakas, people give their beautiful wives to ministers and kings. In the country of Saurashtra, city women enter royal adobe, together or separately.

Though these are customs prevalent, the king shall not use these methods to gain the women. He should instead pay attention to the welfare of the people.

If the woman listens to the man, but doesn’t succumb to his intentions, he should wait and use a go-between approach.

If she comes dressed better than before and meet him at a lonely place, he can use a little force to enjoy her. Because she is expressing her desire to be united with this man.

Some women neither give themselves up nor dismiss the chance of having sex. Such women are triflers. Don’t cut the connection with such women, but should be kept as an acquaintance for some time. She knows your desires and you shall get her.

If the woman assumes the man is superior to her, he can make her identify with himself. It is difficult to win such women, but the persuasion shall not be stopped.

If the woman uses harsh words to dismiss the man, she should immediately be abandoned.

A woman who is kind to the man meets him at loneliness and touches his foot as if in an accident. Such women are indecisive. Such women can be won by patience. If such a woman happens to sleep in his vicinity, like in a marriage house, he should put his arm on her. Most probably she will repulse. But if the repulse is not real, it is actually an invitation to continue what he does. He can also embrace her closely or put his leg on her. If she behaves normally to him the next day, he can enjoy her at the right place and at the right time.

Signs that women give out to show their readiness to be used for sex by man are as follows.

She addresses him without being addressed by him.

She appears before him at secret locations.

She speaks to him in unclear voice and with broken sentences.

Her fingers and toes sweat and her face become blushed.

She shampoos his legs and presses his head. While shampooing, she uses one hand to embrace parts of his body. She also remains motionless, as if fatigued with both hands on his body. She will also be willing to shampoo his thighs when asked to. She also leaves one hand on his body and will not take it for some time even if he presses her hand between his thighs or body and hands.

She resists all his attempts to have her, but will return to him the next day for shampooing him.

When a woman neither encourages nor discourages the advances of a man, she is in a state of go-between. She should be won over by patience.

There are two types of meetings – natural and special. Natural meeting is one of the parties going to the house of the other. Special meeting occurs when each of them meet at a third place like a marriage house, festival ground or garden parties.

He rubs the shoulders of his friend while she notices it

Women are attracted to men who show compassion and liberal spending.

When the wife of a man is seduced to have sex with another man, she has natural apprehensions and fears about the affair. It is the duty of the man to generate and grow confidence in her. She shall not be quickly used for sex. She should be presented with perfumes, clothes etc via the friends of the lady. The women must make arrangements to get the lady to another home. The man reaches the house as if accidentally. After talking nice to her, she can be taken into embraces and kisses. Touch her private parts only after knowing her wishes.

If a man meets a woman by chance and get the chance to sit near her, he shall put his hand on her as if in sleep. If she doesn’t remove the hand of the man from her body, it can be sign of her really sleeping. If she gently removes the hand it can be an invitation to once again put the hand on her. If she throws the hand away, it is sign she is not interested and will be agitated.

She should be intelligent enough to conduct in the right manner in the presence of the woman of desire. She should generate confidence in the woman and tell her about the fun of extra marital affairs. If the woman doesn’t love her husband very much, she should be told the ill sides of her husband and the positive traits of the man who has sent the woman as a messenger.

If the woman likes to hear ill about her husband, she can be won over by repeatedly telling the wrongs of her husband.

She should pass the presents that the man has given by hand of the messenger. The messenger can make arrangements for the woman to meet the man at any location like the house of a friend of the woman, the house of an austere, etc. If the house of the woman has a good location, it is the best place for union.

There are eight types of messengers to go to the woman, they are

1. Nisrashtartha (Volunteered messenger) – this woman understand the desires of the man and the woman and volunteers as a messenger.

2. Parimiyartha (a woman who knows both parties) – this type messengers are acquainted with both the man and the woman. She will be able to act according to the wishes of the man.

3. Patrahari (a dumb messenger) – not real dumb, but this type of messengers only convey what is said by one party to the other. She may pass letters or gifts.

4. Swayam doothi (a volunteer messenger with some desires) – this type of messengers volunteer to be the messenger for the man. She has desire for the man and uses the opportunity as a messenger to get opportunity to meet with him.

5. Mooda doodi (an idiot messenger) – the wife of the man, without her knowledge acts as a messenger for her husband to facilitate union with this woman.

6. Bharya doodi (wife-messenger) – the wife of the man takes the initiative to help him meet the woman of his desires.

7. Mookadoodi (the silent messenger) – this messenger doesn’t have the thinking capacity to think about what she is doing. Usually a little girl.

8. Vatadoodi (code language messenger) – this type of messengers talk with double meaning to pass the message without alerting others.

Palmists, beggars, sculptures, washer women and barbers are best suited as messengers. The duty of the messenger woman is to talk highly of the man who has sent her. She should tell the woman about his knowledge of Kamasutra and his love towards her. The messenger must also be able to take decisions on her own for the sake of the man who has sent her as messenger.

A sophisticated maiden never looks straight at the man of her desire. She will show signs of bashfulness when she understand he notices her. She carefully covers her breast, but shows parts of them as if by accident. She will glance at him while he is engaged in some other activity. She will give a quick smile if met in isolation. Her talking will not be clear and sentences will be broken. Drooping her face is normal. She will stay in the vicinity of the man, but will never come close to him. She will not leave the place. She lifts small children and kisses them in the sight of her love. She doesn’t like to be seen if she is not well dressed and adored.

She talks to him very slowly as if to prolong the conversation. She displays her ornaments and draws markings on her female servants. She struts and moves gracefully.

She shows confidence in his friends, converses with them and volunteer to oversee the work his servants do. Whenever they tell good things about him, she becomes attentive. Under the disguise of obeying her maid’s daughter, she moves to near him and enters his house. She, with the help of the maid’s daughter finds time to engage in conversations with him and to play with him. She will not be resistant when asked to give her ear rings, necklace or ring, which she passes through her female friends.

She will not like the idea of talking about some other bridegroom by her parents.

Thus when a woman shows her liking to a man, it is his duty to facilitate a union with her.

The best way of attracting a man is by serving him. A woman attracted to the good qualities, strength and wealth of a man should find ways of attracting him. A good looking man has nothing to do with a woman, but the qualities like strength of character, physical strength and his success at life are things to look for.

She should give flowers, sandal and betel to him. She should meet him frequently and endear herself to him. Her female friends, the daughter of her maid etc too should help her in contacting him. She should display her skill at 64 arts. She should show her skills at shampooing and making markings with nails. She should talk to him the ways of winning over the girl of his affection.

She shall not show any interest in sexual union. It can be very hard, but never show any signs of readiness to sexual intimacy to the man. If she does, it can cause the man to doubt her dignity and she will be scorned upon and rejected.

Without showing great interest, she can allow his manifestations on her. She receives the love advances while making him known (not by words), she was ignorant of his desires.

When he starts to kiss her, she shall oppose him. She should show resistance when he start kissing. When he begs to have sex with her, she should let him touch her private parts only after much convincing by him.

She should persuade him to marry her quickly. A man who has true love to a woman will not persuade her to have sex with him before marriage.

A girl who is sought after by different men should marry the man she likes. She should look for qualities like financial stability, education and strength of character. A man who is obedient to the woman, but is master of himself shall be chosen to marriage even if he is not wealthy. The man who loves many women is not fit for any woman. One who has many wives is good choice for marriage. One who is addicted to gambling shall not be taken as husband.

A man can be superior to a woman (which it should be) is possible only if the man is of the qualities that women desire – he is the husband of love.
